Poplar Street Bridge Construction until October 2021

In St. Louis, the Marion Street entrance ramp to northbound I-55 and the right lane of northbound I-55 approaching the Poplar Street Bridge will close. In addition, I-64 will be reduced to a single lane approaching the bridge.

On the Illinois side, the ramp to southbound Illinois 3 and southbound Tudor Avenue in East St. Louis will close.

The ramp from northbound Piggott Avenue in East St. Louis to eastbound I-55/64, which was closed on Feb. 22, will remain closed.

IDOT urges motorists to consider alternate routes, including the Interstate 70 Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge. Carpooling and using public transportation, following public health guidelines, are encouraged as well.

IDOT said the closures are necessary to replace the bridge decks on eastbound I-55/64.

Distance Handling Workshop – January 25, 2020

Need Distance, we can help

Joan Meyer and Rai using the needed distance while Joan's neck is broken

Posted by Triune Canine Training And Event Center on Friday, January 3, 2020
Joan Meyer and her sheltie, Rai, demonstrating the power of distance handling

Are you tired of being told you can’t keep up with your dog? Believe it or not, it’s actually a compliment!

The average dog’s speed is 15 – 20 mph. Some dogs can reach a speed of 45 mph over a short distance. The fastest human has clocked 28 mph but the fastest in a 5K run is only 6.42 mph. The following factors play a big role in every runner’s speed: gender, age, injuries, height, weight, and physical shape.

This workshop will teach you to overcome your human limitations by adding distance to your agility toolbox. Handling from a distance puts you in the right place at the right time without slowing down your dog.

Each session has room for 12 working teams and unlimited auditors. There are two sessions. Teams need to be competing to have a working spot.

Date: Saturday, January 25, 2020

Session 1: 9 am – 12 pm

Session 2: 1 pm – 4 pm

Cost: Working spot $75, Auditing spot $30

Location: Triune Canine Training and Event Center, 1903 E Edwardsville Road, Wood River, IL 62232. Indoors on Tex Turf

December Agility Classes

Joan will be offering a 2-week session at the event center. Classes are on Wednesday evenings December 4th and 11th at 5, 6, 7, and 8 pm. The course will have nested elements, so the handler can choose which skill set they would like to work during the running of full courses. This gives them the opportunity to try different things in one class setting. The cost is $50.
